I genuinely do not understand the conversation around this – there is nothing persistent or "truthful" about maps. It's all made up.
Everything, including borders and names, is a point of view.
This is nothing new and map publishers should not be the arbiters.

E.g. French speakers have no idea what the "Bay of Biscay" is, they call it "Golfe de Gascogne" – but really : nobody cares.
I want to dispell the notion that borders and place names are universal and simple rather than the result of territorial disputes and nationalistic BS layered over centuries – some of which are still ongoing today
Same thing with Trump: the renaming is a third order distraction – we should keep our eyes on the ball and this just isn't it IMO
