In my 35+ years in public libraries, I plunged and snaked many a toilet. On those days when you start to feel that you’re in some sort of rarified profession, having to grab the plunger and the mop and head for the women’s restroom is definitely humbling.
Makes me think of the amount of painting and rust removal I did as an electronics technician in the US Navy. Weird that it didn't get brought up beforehand.
I would think this was an exaggeration except I managed a retail store and I know this is not an exaggeration. It’s astounding how many people don’t know how to properly use toilets they’ve used all their lives.
