And our world. All my work as an ELA teacher is centered on this. Pay attention to what is said, how it’s said, why it’s said. Look inwards to figure out how it connects to you. And then look outwards and see other. Not at all dopey. Definitive.
I agree. I think it's important too! I spend lots of time and energy arguing for this, in the face of a much more limited view of reading, not just for early learners but also for those engaged in the study of texts aged 11-18.
