Having a diagnosis was a relief, having a drug that alleviated the worst motor symptoms - that was a frigging miracle. I can type, tie my shoes without effort. Cut a sandwich in half and stir my tea. Take a walk. 2/3

The initial research was done at the NIH by a researcher here on a visa. Which in the current political stew seems beyond ironic. So, let's defund the NIH and lock our borders and then look our friends and neighbors in the eye and tell them we don't give a f*ck about their lives. 3/3

oh I was very very young then, that slogan kept making circles for a long time afterwards.

I even referenced it on some "science" shoes I made for a friend—a beer (saison dupont) with it, since beer is, indeed, better living, and thru chemistry (thanks Dr Fix!)

Yeah, I did an audio book with @specolations.bsky.social about the lives of Catholic scientists, so did a lot of rummaging through the history.
