Idk valve has found ways to make workarounds for certain games. Easy anticheat is kernel level and works on quite a number of games without true kernel access. Elden Eing for instance, runs fine. I think this is equally a matter of devs compromising like u day, but also valve advancing proton.

I think valve gets away with that because nobody really gives a shit if someone cheats in elden ring. Its mostly a single player game anyway and fromsoft already made their money when you bought the game. But those kind of work arounds wont fly with a live service FPS game bc it will drive players

I mean it's less about getting away with it and more about having to emulate the functionality as though it were running for real. Easy anticheat doesn't magically turn off (excluding a custom patch ppl made to remove it), so valve still has to make it think it's running at kernel level.

It's also not really circumventing much since it's still an anticheat and is working to prevent cheating. It just doesn't have the same kind of invasive access as it does on windows when running through proton.

away if its too easy to get around the anticheat which also means those players wont be buying cosmetics. At least thats my guess. I could be wrong tho
