Went for a run yesterday. At one junction a drivist pulled out of an exit and stopped right on the edge of the road, looking right all the time. I was immediately to their left. Not once did they look in my direction. I shouted to attract their attention. 1/2
They were so focused on looking for a gap in the traffic it took them some time to mentally adjust. They opened their window. I told them to look both ways. They were oblivious to what I was saying. Every day experience.
I saw another post about a person in a car almost hit a pedestrian who was wearing dark clothing. My response is always to thank them (the person in the car) for paying attention. I think many miss the irony of my comments.
I used to be a motorcyclist. The usual thinking for self-preservation was to treat all car drivers as psychotic idiots. It seems to work for me as a cyclist and pedestrian too. Well, so far, anyway...
