I was honored to be at the Heard Museum when the Navajo Code Talkers were finally recognized by the Federal Government for their significant contribution toward ending Germany's NAZI regime in WWII. Before this program, WE WERE LOSING. I recommend this movie.

33 Tribes contributed Code Talkers in WWII. All except the Navajo were US Army.

They all did the same job and the Navajo were no better or worse. They just receive better publicity.

The Choctaw were the first Code Talkers during WWI.

I was honored to attend the first Code Talker Ceremony at Second Mesa in 2013. The Comanche, and other pueblo tribes attended.

We were not "losing" when the code talkers went into action, we were winning, at least according to the historical records.

Thanks for the additional information. I've been among Navajo mostly & have had tours at various historical venues since scouts, so it's hard to remember where I think I learned this. Can you recommend a documentary or book on this subject?

Dr. William Miller’s book about Comanche Code Talkers is excellent. I tried to write an article about the Hopi but they are very insular and demanding. They require council approval and if it is given, they have control over content. Not gonna work with censor so I didn’t pursue it.
