It didnt work though. KC did an ok job of stopping Allen as he ran 4-5 brotherly shoves today but he switched it up by diving over the D line which i thought was awesome
Not like that. The ref threatened to award a TD to the Eagles if Washington continued encroaching after it happened 3 or 4 times in a row, including Luvu leaping over center into Hurts twice. It was a long mess of an explanation, but upon reflection I probably shouldn’t have used quotation marks.
I would’ve absolutely called their bluff. You can’t just start making shit up, I would’ve advised my team to do it again then walk off the field and protest the entire game but I’m petty like that.
it would have been a really weak interpretation of it IMO. The intent of the rule is to prevent things that would artificially run the clock out, or committing defensive holding on all receivers, etc. Washington wasn't trying to commit penalties on purpose!
Especially with how close to the goal line these penalties were committed. The reward of a stop was way higher than the penalty. So make the penalty greater. Love that this is in the rule book.
I think because it was goal to go they couldn’t achieve a first down. Only way would be a penalty that triggers an automatic first down and offsides isn’t.

Because I was there to see a ref penalize someone for "Giving [the quarterback?] the Business."
That kinda call sticks with you.
gotta go
Were those penalties becoming really annoying? If yes, then yes
