If a GM can make shit up so can the players. This idea that players are creative voids that need to be spoonfed by designers and GMs rather than fellow participants in the game is so insulting and egotistical.

As someone who does it professionally, I still get that anxiety and it's so unfair to put that much pressure of anyone at any experience level, especially newcomers!

I hope that the opinions of severely jaded individuals don't prevent you from giving it a shot when you're ready

I ran a demo for work today and even though I cringed every time I had a long pause or said "um" and I apologized to the table up front for not being a natural performer, I still did a whole 4 hours. Suppose if they hated it they just won't sign up again.
