Or, they are going to declare an "emergency" that Canada is being "unfair" with our response, and so they need to invade us in order to maintain access to these resources for "security reasons" and to make us repay our fair share of all the military protection we have previously received from them.

Oh no, I would rather die than be taken over by the US. I fully support any and all economic action to fight the tariffs. I just don't see how they can make sense to them other than as a tool for conquest of us. Hopefully, I'm wrong, and it's just about tanking the stock market to make a quick $.

I doubt Alberta would do an oil embargo. Not with Smith in charge, she doesn't have the spine to stand up for Canada or Alberta. Just look how she sold out the watershed to Aussie coal.

As things escalate, positions will change.
Alberta wasn’t too happy with the NEP, either - but there was nothing they could do about it except print rude bumper stickers.
There are still Canadians in Alberta and her approval rating is underwater at 46%.

knowing the on the ground zeitgeist here in Alberta, reality isn't a strong suit for about 30% of the province. Thankfully 70% of the people here are Canadian first, and a bunch of us are more than happy to operate at a loss to prove a point.
