This has been my fear throughout, that other countries will now try to copy our shitty homework. What must be repeated and understood is that at no point has the Australian government properly consulted leading experts in youth media, or youth themselves. This will not work here, not anywhere.

We're already dealing with some nonsense like no news postings on Meta sites (which does not make that feed better) and the TDSB's social media "ban" where the main effect seems to be demolishing student clubs main communication channels

Have a look at my response to @claesdevreese.bsky.social just now, the link to the news media bargaining code - that other piece of terrible ill-considered legislation we exported to Canada - and this ban is not insignificant.
