If the Senate were so inclined, I suppose they could ask for the information that the House Ethics Committee turned up for his confirmation hearing.

The speculation was that Matt Gaetz was a throw-away, and his rejection by the Senate could make it easier for other Trump nominees. So, if Gaetz has already resigned from the House, you have to admire his commitment to the bit.
