We, at NDN stand firmly against this bill. It doesn’t make sense to build a new prison, paid for with our tax dollars, when we know it will operate under the same harmful policies that have disproportionately targeted Indigenous, Black, and low-income communities.

The prison HB 1025 is trying to fund would be built for already rich people to profit from the industry our incarceration generates, and the current prison would be torn down so already rich people can profit from the land where it exists.
