it continues to be remarkable to me how vehemently alt-wellness / MAHA acolytes will rail against the financial interests of the medical field / pharma as if undermining trust in public health isn't a wildly lucrative business itself

People tell tragic stories about parents getting scammed by these people, and refusing cancer treatment--and then DYING. But it's very American like 'oh I got a SPECIAL cure for cancer...not like the cures of those other people.' There are so many wacky aspects of our culture that feed into this.
Isn't that a pip? I cannot BELIEVE people fall for that one. When we know about the lies of The Scientologists? So they could scam untreated people. And people STILL fall for it. If you can somehow block medical treatment, you can sell people your quack shit, and become a millionaire.
not to say that there aren't problems with the former (there certainly are!) but like, the foundational business model that runs the alt-wellness economy is "you can't trust them -- so you need to buy my expensive, triple-liposomal-cellular-detoxified suite of supplements + coaching program instead"
like i genuinely cannot grasp how this man is extolled as an anti-corruption hero fighting corporate interests when his manipulative, anti-science crusading (made possible by his family name) has made him millions upon millions of dollars:
We spend almost 5 *trillion* dollars on health care - 20% of GDP. The ten largest Pharma firms made over *100 billion* in profit in 2022. What exactly do you think people are pulling in pushing raw milk or ivermectin? Do you think it
s 1/100th of one percent of that? Wildly lucrative? Please.
Percentages are not your enemy! 100 billion is 2% of 5 trillion, not crazy profits at all. Ivermectin and raw milk scammers meanwhile are making massive profits because they're scammers so they don't actually have to spend the money they make to do anything for people.
That the wellness industry is a multitrillion-dollar global market aside – we can acknowledge greed + brokenness within the medical/pharma complex & the insidious incentives that often align w the alt-wellness world (esp. when sowing doubt in safe public health policy is remunerative) at once!
If you truly believe "big vitamins" is the largest source of corrupting/influencing health information, compared to Pharma, which is the single biggest donor to our political system, and biggest buyer of ad time on cable news, I dont know what to tell you.

2) What are the "massive profits" from Ivermectin and raw milk you are referencing, and what is your source?
