They also need to be managed in a way that brings out the best in what they have. This is where Ange is failing. Moyes is exposing his high line. If your team is too tired to make the runs, then don't set them up in a way that forces them to do so. Ange is done. It's sad. But necessary.

I think it's more complicated. Balance of age and experience, willingness to add players to mitigate the impact of Ange's approach which exhausts players. Being willing to sell at the right time. But don't forget that as it turns out, the wages you pay are a better measure than transfer fees.

That being said, Ange isn't blameless. He's boxed himself in, because he's made clear he won't bend and that means that whilst his principles and methods of attaining 'buy in' got him and keep him in the job, they also mean compromise isn't an option, leading us here.
