It’s important to remember what type of people successfully climbed the ladder in politics, the corporate world, big media, etc. They are largely those for whom ambition overrides considerations like family, quality of life, and so on. /1

It is unsurprising that they will not stand up for anything or anyone beyond their personal success. It’s an error to expect them to stand up for us. We have to stand up for ourselves and drag them along behind, kicking and screaming. /end
