Astonishing! In a 2-minute afternoon interlude, 3 more birds bring their voices to the hit parade. A northern parula, a summer tanager, and a lilting Carolina chickadee. Splendid.

It's surprising we have so many of the same birds, and we're so far south of you. The northern parula is newish here this year (tho very shy), and I love it's distinctive trill.

Thank you dearest gal. The Merlin app certainly brings a new dimension. I love the music of the morning, but it was all a smush of sounds. I’m beginning to distinguish them, and several of the birds I can hear, I’ve never laid eyes on; they are ensconced in the woods surrounding the house.

I love your idea of identifying multiple birds in real time, so I looked up the app. While it’s originally for North America, it now also covers birds worldwide. There’s a regional pack, which includes birds of Germany and Lower Saxony… looks like I have a new project. Thanks so much!
