🎄 Day 5: 2-1
The Match:
The only time a Scottish Club has won the top European trophy. We can say with near certainty that it will never happen again. But on a Thursday in May 1967, in the Estádio Nacional in Lisbon – it happened.

Comments
Eighteen of those 20 seasons were spent finishing between 3rd and 12th place.
In the next 20 seasons, they won 13 titles and finished outside of the top 2 only twice. Stein completely transformed Celtic domestically
But it was in Europe that Stein would achieve feats never to be seen again.
In his time at Celtic he reached 4 European Cup Semi Finals (2 finals).
His crowning glory was undoubtedly season 1966/67, when they won all 5 tournaments. Only 2 teams beat them all season. Dundee United and Vojvodina.
Tommy Gemmell (6th in Ballon d'or) would equalise from 25 yards with his 4th goal of tournament.
With 5 minutes left, Stevie Chalmers diverted in a long range effort to score the winner - his 5th goal of the tournament.
They stopped Inter winning the “tripletta” of European Cups – as they had previously won the trophy in 1964 & 1965.
However they were simply no match for Celtic’s relentless attacking style, the hoops having 40 shots to Inter’s 5.
The Italians ultra defensive “catenaccio” (door-bolt) style was to be their undoing.
Captain Billy McNeill was taken for the presentation outside. It was here that a captain of a Scottish side would place hands on the big trophy for the first, & likely last, time.
