Just as "Idiocracy" is not a fictional comedy. It's a movie revealing the republican plan for the future. A road map to ineptitude kinda like project 2025.
Always felt like he was a good person, just struggling to keep up with change. Feels like you’re trying to make him an “Archie Bunker“ type where Archie was also struggling to keep up, but also fundamentally flawed in his character.
Rusty Shackelford is a whole lot less funny to me now that we essentially have a government full of them than he was as a mostly harmless crackpot in the '90s.
I sometimes disparagingly refer to the act of credulously repeating conspiracy theories as “Gribbling”, but then it makes me sad because I still think the character is funny :(
I thought I was the only one. Watching a lot of his character’s scenes now makes me cringe. But I must admit, Mike Judge is some kind of prophet or something.
2000-10 lived in TX hill country west of Austin. In an ETJ all on multi-acre ranches. I had a genuine Hank living across the road. House not visible from road. Only saw him occasionally at the mailboxes. “Y’all come up’n see us sumtime” he’d say. Never gave us his cattle gate code though 🤔
Absolutely love KotH and from what I’ve seen in my travels through Texas it does cut pretty close to the bone. Not hatin’, just statin’. And love to all in Texas! 🫶
Having lived in East Texas I literally roll on the floor laughing when Sheldon says something about East Texas which is true! Especially the religious parts.
1/2 I grew up in California and moved to Texas when I was 27. To prepare myself I watched the whole series again.
When I would tell people in Texas what I did they’d tell me the show wasn’t real and I was silly for thinking it was.
What they don’t realize it I thought it was satire
2/2 and in no way thought it was real before I moved.
However after living in Texas while I was shocked at how realistic the show truly is, and even more so how blind that fact native Texans are.
It's a show that, like the Simps, has to be animated in order to cut so close to the bone. The first shot in the first episode, of Arlen residents skidding around in the single-flakes snowfall told me I was seeing reality, enhanced.
When I was growing up in Northern Michigan a guy I worked with told me I needed to watch King of the Hill. He said that for every character on the show there was someone in our town exactly like them he was right 😄.
In an interview, when KotH was still on air, Mike Judge related that he grew up in Calgary, AB, and the characters were based on his friends and neighbours from that time.
I did that to avoid wasting time with you actually. Please go find interviews in his own voice. He says what was summarized in his own voice. In one interview he even tells a story that takes place in his alley and does so using a hank hill voice. 1/2
I loved that show. I had no idea he was raised in AB.
No offence to Albertans, but…you know 🤷♀️
My stepson and his wife live in Alberta. Gorgeous place. Lots of great people.
I should probably shut up. I’m in Ontario, where we have a semi-literate former hash dealer as a premier. 🙄
I’ve been watching a bunch of older episodes of shows like South Park, Family Guy, and King of the Hill. It’s amazing just how relevant some of it still is today, almost 30 years later
I saw something recently about how the audience felt like Bobby was their son/brother. There was some pic of him released in the new remake, now older, and commenters were saying they were proud of him ha. That's wild. The show def broke free of the "cartoon" cage

Nobody realized Idiocracy was a documentary until Trump rode the golden down escalator in the summer of 2015.
Uh-huh
I am so glad you are here. You inspire so many people 💙
Thank you.

Sadly, most of them were priced out of the city where they lived.
Peg: Ever since the human life span has spiraled out of control...
Elmo n 🧠🪱 gon take care o' that
Yes they exist and yes, Khan and Mihn would be like that.
Bill only cares about what Hank thinks.
But, whatever. Not worth arguing over.
Cheers.
