I feel like I may need to chime in here.
Troop pay is extremely behind inflation, people assume our take home is wonderful but that's because most of us don't pay for insurance. Our housing stipend (which is tied to our assignment and based on an outdated formula) softens some of that.

We appreciate the support which is why I wanted to start this charity. This community is welcoming to all which is a beautiful thing and never at any point have I met someone who said people don't matter.
I'm just saying that many people seem to think we're loaded which may not lead to sympathy
