If true, the implication here is that people have to pay extra for a safety feature that reduces the danger from its tech, which may be even worse than the tech being bad itself.

Also since AEB has been mandated into new cars since 2024 in EU. I wonder how the regulators would react if it comes out that the Autopilot AEB, is worse than FSD AEB.

That would make Teslas not roadworthy, would they be stupid enough to risk that?

I watched the video. He started with the emergency breaking feature but it was really bad and didn't work, so he switched to testing it using Autopilot instead which had better (but still really bad) results.

I have a Tesla with FSD. Bought it before it was clear that Musk was a Nazi. But for the moment, I still have it.

From my experience, the Tesla AP system of cameras only is dismal in anything but clear weather.

Ice, snow, rain, fog, morning/evening low sun, all diminish or incapacitate the automatic system. It *needs* LiDAR.

Even going from garage to driving sometimes fogs up the cameras and renders them useless.

While I think the full self driving is fine when it can detect everything, you can't have a self driving system that is impaired in so many conditions.

And it absolutely does not emergency brake to avoid a collision. Or it would have stopped me from backing into a parked trailer last summer.
