Manufacturing prowess helps explain why Tesla’s valuation(not an Elon fan!) can be worth more than most of the legacy manufacturers combined. Innovation is their moat. But it’s the others whose worth is shrinking—there’s no path to EV mass production. So why would you bet on them?

Like everything musk it's a scam.
Musk is an bigot and a dangerous authoritarian, but they are good cars.
And back to the original point: if other western automakers don't step up, all that will be left is Tesla and China. Neither of us want that, no?
Tesla's Semi and Cybertruck are aimed at heavy transport and "light" trucks. The worst offenders. Bad Elon can't stop that.
