It's important to find moments and activities that give you happiness and joy especially as we're in it for the long haul. I'm 44 years old and I go every week to get my new comics. Still makes me giddy like when I was a kid.

What kept me going last year from a severe ruptured appendix was reading Wonder Woman comics.
Nothing comes close to that kind of peace. Sitting and reading escaping reality for a bit helps. Now, I know how it's feels like when folks were reading during the Great Depression
"Democracy had failed, the country was in the grip of far-right mania, and the corrupt...never had to answer for their crimes. Without someone to “watch the watchmen”...Moore also wanted to talk about Reagan... expected...[with] fiscal and social policies, Reagan was potentially...worse than Nixon."
I have wanted deeply to get back into collecting! Is there a site or tool you use to see which comics are releasing soon so I can jump in from the beginning? :)
I have never been unhappy in a comic book store... Soon as I start digging in a long box I completely faze out and feel like a kid again eager to spend all of my allowance money on #comics.
I'm 45 and I feel you. I dont have a local comic shop near where I live but I have a Marvel Unlimited account. Its cool n all, but not the same as holding a new comic in hand.
I'm starting to do this, but with physical copies of movies, TV shows and animes.
It's an absolutely amazing feeling, especially when you get smth that's hard to find!
Be kind to yourselves and do what makes you happy, even if it's smth "outdated"
Thank you for the reminder! It’s very difficult to feel positive. When every single day there’s a new incredibly outrageous and disgusting and illegal act going on from this criminal rapist president. Plus the stress of his backers from project 2025.
So true! I have thrown myself more into film, the great escape, and it’s been comforting and always enjoyable. I was a comic collector back in the 90’s mostly DC universe and Chaos comics staples Lady Death and Evil Ernie.
Hey Waj! I'm in my 70's and started buying Marvel Comics in 1960. I had every superhero issue of Marvel from 1960 to 1977. It was over 5,000 issues by then.
I sold the all in '77 and payed for my 4 year college tuition with the money I made. If I'd sold them now, I could have acquired Twitter.
I’m close to retirement when my plan is to sort and organise all my comics and MtG cards for sale to afford my retirement toys like a hard core gaming PC and home still 🥃
I got giddy a few years back finding the shoe box of comics I bought when younger, some still in plastic sleeves. Next time I should give them a real read through again
i had a subscription as a kid to uncanny x-men. 1980s. used to love getting the comic in the mail monthly wrapped in a brown shipping wrapper. i need to find some
joy. been literally years since i felt happy.
Love this! Was a superhero comics fan in my childhood which was much earlier than yours! Also, gained an appreciation of many other graphic novels as an adult. I created the 1st comics collection in the library where I worked before retiring.
A comic store opened near me a couple of years ago, and I had no idea it would impact my life so much❤️ I love seeing so much comic content on this app!
46 checking in. Since the disastrous election, I've taken up writing again. My wife will again appreciate the letters and poems I write to her, which were the foundation of our first three years together since it was a long distance romance of the 90's. So mailing letters was how we kept in touch.
That's awesome! I might have you by a few(+++) years, and even though I don't make it to my favorite comic book shop every week, I'm always in a much better place once I pick up my pull from them!
We are the same age, and I still fondly remember the regular trips to the local comic shop. I joke that the first comic I bought was Amazing Spiderman 301. If only I started one issue earlier...
Love it mate! I’m 45 and when I was younger I was totally addicted to Marvel Comics. My access here in Portugal was limited but still I’ve collected hundreds of comics.
Same! I still read numerous titles and check for new ones. Even have a box at my local shop that I check every month.
I will never grow out of reading funny books haha
Agreed. I’m a somewhat functional amateur jazz pianist. I found a really good player on YouTube- who’s written a series of piano books. They’re great-with QR codes for demo videos
Very inspiring… the simple technique exercises are like Zen koans. I’m making progress
Fully support this. My happy place is my turntable. I've noticed a HUGE decrease in my anxiety since I turned the MSM television off on my work from home days and play records in the background instead. 🎵😍

"Die with your mask on if you've got to."
Is a phrase spoken by Dr. Death Defying on the album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys by My Chemical Romance

Something cool about Comics that have never gone away to me, always finding myself drawn to some of the older comics due to the cool cover art.
joy. been literally years since i felt happy.
Ive now got 3 boxes full within the last 2 years
I loved Marvel's The Exiles. And the MAX Supreme Power series. And DC's Sinestro Wars.
Well, who knows because you aren't following me so you'll never read this.
I will never grow out of reading funny books haha
The Jag is my current work in process.
This Vette was my first in approx 35 years.
I’m now held together with titanium, but sod it, when my kids spread my ashes after I’m gone there will be chunky bits.
