Moana 2...very meh. Unfortunately it'll make so much money and Disney will give us a mediocre product in the future. Forgettable songs and rushed story. My kids loved the first one.

I’m an adult & I am not ashamed to say I loved the 1st one too. Not sure if I’ll go see the 2nd one in the theater. Probably will wait for it to stream.
Everything i’ve seen about M2 so far has been along this line ☹️ disappointing when the first one was so good! I’m still working my way through the classic sequels though so i’ll just stick it on the end of the list 😆
Unfortunately, I don’t take most people‘s criticism to heart when it comes to movies. I enjoyed the first Moana and so did my kids will have to see it for ourselves.
Nooo! The first one was epic. My kids will be so bummed; they’re so looking forward to it. Especially disappointing since Frozen II was just as good as the first.
That is so disheartening. They could have had a 3 or something. Having a princess with no prince charming and the way she is a leader is something us American women/girls/ females need so much right now.
Remember Moana 2 was originally supposed to be a Disney+ show before Disney switched gears because they were afraid they were making too many shows. It maybe a meh movie but the people making it were definitely punching up in what they had to do.
V meh. I loved the 1st one. My 7 year old daughter loved it, but me and my 4yr old son were bored. Agree on the rushed feeling. It was dark and scary, like frozen 2. Not enjoyable. So disappointed
Several years ago, I took a cruise from Sydney to Los Angeles. During the Sydney to New Zealand leg a Maōri couple gave several classes on their culture. They got to watch Moana on their flight to Sydney. They loved it. Said it portrayed and honored heir culture well!
the first movie was a masterpiece to me, the scene where Moana restored Te’Fiti’s heart… was relatable in a profound way. I always felt like Ta’ka and Te’Fiti.. and in my head my self motivating mantra was that I wanted to be my own Moana to restore my own heart. I avoid sequels so the magic stays..
kinda applies to pretty much everything they put out at this point. i’ve stopped paying attention to their stuff. if there’s something new with a marvel or star wars character i’m interested i’ll tune in, but that’s about it
good to know. we'll wait for it to stream what a disappointment - they were opening a new MOANA land at Epcot last year or this year anticipating this movie I bet
You have the right not to pay for it, not give them $$ for pumping out mediocrity. I have one streaming sevice, Amazon obviously. And might give Disney $2.99 to watch it 6 months from now after my friends say it's worth it.
this is unfortunate to hear. i really enjoyed the first one. first disney animated film in years that i really loved like i did the ones of my childhood. i really wish they'd stop with these unnecessary sequels and remakes.
I saw a TikTok that said this was supposed to be a Disney+ series. The quality was not the usual movie level animation, etc. Your review makes me think that TikTok was accurate. 😕
The animation was fine. The songs just weren’t as enjoyable/memorable. My kids enjoyed the movie, as did I, but was it as good as the first film, though? Not really.
Pretty much most things coming out of the US entertainment complex at the moment seems to be poor derivatives of past things. Just crass derivative trash. I guess they're not wanting to take risks - commercial or political - right now. 🤷🏻♂️
Decades of bearing the brunt of hipster persecution because I dared to say movies and television of the 80's-90's included some timeless and relevant stories, my detractors raise their kids on an endless cycle of sequels whilst laying awake at night seething "will i ever have time for First Blood?"
The list of good animated sequels is very short. The list of good animated sequels that aren't from Pixar may contain 0 entries (at least in American animation).
Goodness…dude… insensitive trashing of Pacific Island cultures is not who you are. I’m a huge fan of yours, but this comment is so unnecessary. I’ve always seen you more as a “do no harm” kinda guy… this is disappointing.
Not what he was saying at all. I agree: the story felt like the writers were told “bigger! farther! more!”, & the music DID feel different. I didn’t know Lin Manuel Miranda didn’t do the music until after seeing it, but in the theater, I kept thinking the music wasn’t as good as Moana1.
Wut? In no way did he trash Pacific Island Culture.
I watched it with my daughter yesterday, it was just okay. The story was fine but they set up a big bad that never showed until the post credits, songs weren't as good and the "twist" at the end was kind of predictable. Daughter, 5, loved it.
Moana 1 was just better. Nobody flames others saying they're trashing Mexican culture because a person rightly says Coco is a vastly superior movie compared to Book of Life.

Should’ve brought them to Gladiator 2.
and you ain’t getting lin manuel miranda level songs without lin manuel miranda.
It seemed almost like a set-up for Moana 3 almost like a pass through movie.

Try to not be recreationally offended.
