I live in Alabama, Birmingham, and the entire economy depends on federal grants because of UAB, where it's not only the Level I trauma center in the state, but it's one of the top research hospital systems in the nation and the world. The entire city and state economy is on the verge of collapse.

UAB contributes to $12B annually into our city, county, and state economies. The system acquires failed corporate hospital systems and expands services. I go there for my healthcare because there is nowhere else to go here and to be taken seriously with my LONG COVID chronic illnesses. I'm scared

Today Republicans put out their budget plan. $4 trillion in cuts mostly for the top 1% and zero for Medicaid. Medicaid covers 82 million Americans. 40% of Medicaid recipients are children. Republicans want to give richest Americans a huge tax break at the expense of almost 30% of Americans.
