I’m curious about actual long term harms. My experience is that pharmaceutical companies underreport side effects and risks to begin with, and studies for FDA approval generally are not long term. Finally if something seems too good to be true it probably is.

We just don’t know. Every drug in existence has side effects, so this is not surprising. But I have to reiterate that we need to replicate these findings before there is any serious and thoughtful discussion of risk/benefit.

Follow up and confirmation of these findings for GLP-1RAs is imperative. As with any drug, there will be constant reassessment of risks and benefits, and it’s likely to vary by from individual to individual.
