Don’t feed your pets uncooked meat or raw milk, even if it’s frozen at some point.

Friendly reminder that feeding raw meat to your pets has no proven benefits, and is full of risks. This is especially true as we see growing numbers of cats suffering from raw diet associated H5N1 infections.

if it's the real deal parmiagiano reggiano from Italy, the milk is scalded but not pasteurized. They test the crap out of it, it's refrigerated, it's high in salt, and that reduces the risk significantly. Most European 'raw milk' cheeses are heated to some degree because that's how cheese is made.

I would check with more than one veterinarian before offering such advice. I suggest you look into Dr Judy Morgan and Dr Karen Becker. Both are much better at citing the evidence than I am.

Best to avoid raw diets. Raw food turns pets into carriers of Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, and Campylobacter which can make young children and the immunocompromised dangerously sick. Not to mention the risk of H5N1, which has given multiple pets pneumonia, neurological illness, and death.

It’s been all over the news. Cats that eat raw food and drink unpasteurized milk are dying. There is even evidence of cats infecting other animals and humans.

I only have a dog, but I am aware that a few cats died in Oregon after eating Northwest Naturals. Raw or lightly cooked, I always feed my dog human grade food that’s been USDA inspected -as fresh and unprocessed as possible. If things change, I will revalutate.

It's definitely not a good idea to feed raw diets. This is well established, and veterinarians keeping up with the scientific literature will agree.

Cook your pet foods. I fix a mixture of ground turkey, brown rice,peas and carrots , garbanzo beans, chicken or vegetable broth in the crackpot. They love it. With a little shredded chicken brown in, they eat every bit.
