Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that

I mask up to protect the seniors and the teeney ones in my family. Couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks of me. The poor grocery checkers are often sick because of public facing jobs.

I have been masking since covid. I plan to continue to mask to protect myself and others. I have little faith in this government to protect us. I also keep current on vaxs. I am waiting for an ebola outbreak here in the US. We don't have the teams to contain future outbreaks.

I don’t think Ebola could really take hold here. It really requires very close contact with an infected patient, and the mortality rate is high enough to motivate even a Republican.

I haven't stopped masking indoors since April 2020. I've never had Covid. I test frequently. I'm not afraid I'm just aware.

Like you, I can only control me. I gave up trying to help other people by offering what I've been taught by my "sciency" friends. I don't want to "catch" ANYTHING "out there"

In 2023 auto accidents killed about 40,000, Covid about 76,000, almost twice as many. Now, ask yourself when was the last time you heard someone bitch about wearing a seatbelt? We don't even give seatbelts a second thought, but too many of us have decided a mask is literally a fate worse than death!
