Last point : I think using LLMs with intent to hide it is really efficient. If people don't bother, it's detectable

This is what I mean. This paper compares the energy consumed by training a LLM with that of everything a human being consumes in 20 years of life. But humans are living people, and also do a lot more than just consume data in their lives. These aren't obvious takeaways from your first comment

Our household contributed to the consumer complaint stat. My husband used ChatGPT to help with a warranty claim on our car. We won and the dealer had to buy the car back. I drive a new car because my state has strong consumer protection laws, and AI helped us understand them.
