This was probably because the article was named "House Rules: New Ways (And Some Old Ways) To Play Magic," not a title that promises a plethora of worldbuilding information about a hitherto unknown plane. I believe it was @acry.bsky.social who finally brought Antausia to everybody's attention. 2/8

In addition to lore about the history and regions of Antausia, the article presented rules for a proto-Planechase Magic variant, where each game would begin in a randomly determined location, with an associated enchantment-like effect. 3/8

When I finally got a chance to make new plane cards in March of the Machine Commander, I knew I wanted a card set on Antausia. I love a good deep-cut! It felt right for the card's effect to exactly match the associated location from Shawn Carnes's original article. 4/8

The effects were all based on existing Magic cards, but hoo boy there were a lot of stinkers in there! Unfun cards like Meekstone, Kismet, and Winter Orb. Weak effects like Celestial Prism, Mightstone, and 1/2 of Castle's effect. 5/8

The best ones, Howling Mine and Mana Flare, were redundant with the existing plane cards, Panopticon and Eloren Wilds respectively. I decided to reprint Panopticon, but that Eloren Wilds's unfun chaos ability meant that I didn't want to reprint it. Mana Flare was the winner! 6/8

The region associate with the Mana Flare effect was called The Fertile Lands of Saulvinia. Normally this would be too long of a card name, but Planechase cards are reaaaallllly wiiiide, so we got to use the full, somewhat goofy-sounding, name. 7/8
