there’s a setting in blender that’ll DRAMATICALLY improve the feel (used to be default, was changed years ago, but is still an option): spacebar to search. in preferences>input iirc

if you have no idea which dropdown/shortcut a feature is under, just hit space, start typing its name & it’ll show up

For what it's worth, despite the learning curve, the blender userbase is INCREDIBLY enthusiastic about producing tutorials and QoL plugins and tons of other stuff meant to make using it either. So if you hit a stumbling block, don't panic: there's likely already a fix or guide out there for it.

I attempted learning grease pencil last year (and while I ended up moving to Toonboom..) it’s still a very powerful tool. but since there aren’t too many good tuts for it yet I highly recommend this playlist: he shows off tools that I couldn’t find anyone else teaching!

My #1 piece of advice for someone in your situation would be, play to Blender's strengths. Blender is a true 3D software, and being able to move around and place things and draw in a true, full-blown, full-grown 3D space is an UNFATHOMABLY powerful tool once you start to think higher-dimensionally.

Do be careful when learning blender, there are a million people who want to make the whole thing look more complicated than it is, and even more who want to make it seem more simple than it is. Whats more, all of them want you to give them money.

Blender can be overwhelming if you try to learn everything at once. Stick to what you want to achieve with the program, like using Grease Pencil, just focus on one thing at a time.
