I am Blackfoot, in my tribe we have the idea of a manly-hearted woman or "ninauh-oskiti-pahpyaki".
Manly-hearted women often hunted with the men, went to war with the men, owned their own livestock and land. They were honored and respected members of their communities.

Today the term "Two-spirit" is used as an all encompassing term that includes manly-hearted women. Identifying as Two-spirit is a reclamation of my culture from the colonizers who tried to culturally genocide us.
