Me too so badly!!! We've been trying to make it happen for years but they always got turned down or left unanswered. Gimmeswag is quite good, they work for Gamelof amongst other developers/studios :D

It is!! I used to order art and handmade things from other artists when I still could afford it, and mostly ended up sticking with those living inside EU for that reason :'D

I shipped two tiny items 2 years ago to France, I put it as £10 total including shipping, as a gift, hoping the person wouldn't pay any custom fees for it... they charged her 45euros, I was screaming!

45€ is insane!! I've luckily never had to pay that much for custom fees, I've no idea what I'd even do in a situation like that!

And especially since it was marked as that cheap?? Items below a certain price should only get taxes and not custom fees (to my memory at least!)

It was cheap and made by myself and send as a gift, France is supposed to have a certain allowance before charging custom fees. They're the absolute worst! The person decided to pay without challenging them, I still think they've been robbed by the State T_T

That's sadly how Gimmeswag works: they need 100 pledges of $2 each and only after they'll work on the concepts and later the 4 weeks campaigns for pre-orders. Without the 100 pledges they won't do any concept :(

You need to fill in their form for partnering, if they agree with it they'll have a meeting with you to discuss it. Then they open a pledge where you describe what character it will be and where it's from, if 100 pledges are collected within 10 days they'll do the concept and product for you yes :)

...are you sure this isn't a scam?

there's a lot that can go into preparing a project like this before funding. for example, they could get quotes from manufacturers, or make mock-ups.

I see nothing on their site about this, and the listing addresses the studio in the third person a couple times.

It's not a scam, that's how it works with them. I don't know how much I'm allowed to share but there was a meeting and a signed contract that was their conditions to make it happen. You can see all their pledging campaigns here

It's possible that for people with a huge fanbase on Twitter/Instagram they skip the pledge stage though.
But this is 100% legit, Gameloft and a few other popular studios/creator contents work with them too
