Cover letters have gone from the sorta-useful, necessary default to an edge case in like five years.
If there’s a recruiter in the pipeline, they’re a waste of everyone’s time and effort.
But if I’m hiring for super small team or a nascent company, I’m reading every last word.

in the year of our whatever, 2024, what purpose does a cover letter serve please?
i get that it's a holdover from The Old Days before the internet, but like...nobody is reading a letter when they are looking at a job application...are they?
