I would like to think that the UK columnists who are right now preparing pieces in praise of Vance point out the essentially one-way Trump administration view of free speech – see also the mass deletion of web pages/funding for studies simply because they use a banned word like "diversity".
I'm not complacent about how the UK would react to a similar threat to Trump-style democratic values, but I like to think that if, say, No 10 tried to bar a media outlet from briefings over such an issue, the entire lobby would boycott the event in solidarity.
But that's already happened.

And the "brotherhood" of journalists made no noise at all
