Why? Being there is a whole fucking mountain chain called the Coastal Range. That's how there used to be a giant lake in the southern part of the CV. The Kings, Kaweah, Tule, and Kern Rivers (& Deer Creek & White River & Poso Creek, etc) all drained into Tulare Lake pre settlement & before dams.

ALSO, none of that water goes to LA. We don't even have that kind of conveyance. It's Delta water, our northern river's water, that gets captured and funneled to LA and to some major southern valley growers. Just a little more info for people trying to understand wtf is going on.

OH,& the the Central Valley, while it has a couple of blue spots here and there, is for all intents and purposes Red country. Trump SERIOUSLY fucked over his own base with the stunt that he pulled. Republicans here are really beside themselves right now. I'd laugh but us peasants are fucked too.

The almond industry is still recovering from the effects of the tariffs/tariff threats with China 8 years ago, so the looming tariffs will be a disaster for many valley farmers as well.

Beyond a doubt! Also, SGMA is really kicking in and lots of land is starting to be pulled out of production in order to try to reach sustainable groundwater use. Things are not looking good for our smaller farmers, at all.
