I'm actually still fuming over that non-call for Dara O'Shea's lunge / body check on Danso in the box. Last season and this season the bar for us to get a pen call seems awfully high.

It was incredible they got away with that. And in contrast you see the decision Man Utd got in their favour where Everton should have had a clear pen. Sometimes v hard to believe there’s no funny business going on.
So I believe you're supposed to be in striking distance of the ball before you engage in a shoulder barge. In that sense it's a penalty.
However I think Danso had lost the ball already so maybe that's why??? But surely a foul off the ball is still a foul?
The comms said this ref had made a major mistake in the last Ipswich game he oversaw so he was probably reluctant to make any big calls either way. Terrible reffing all game, indulged Ipswich in their flopping nonsense too many times and seemed to have a personal vendetta against Danso.
I hate being the guy in the tinfoil hat, but it really seems like VAR has been reluctant to rule in our favour since the (genuinely unjust) "offside" decision that cost Liverpool a goal against us. Liverpool were right to be aggrieved about that but it feels like VAR have overcompensated ever since.
Which is bizarre if it's true because obviously that gross error was nothing to do with Spurs, and ultimately was just an incorrect offside call in any case.
It's definitely a bit "tinfoil-hat", so I can't say I firmly believe it. But at times it certainly *feels* true. Like yesterday, I can't for the life of me understand how we didn't get a penalty for the push on Danso. It seemed clear as day, and our 3 pens in 2 seasons in the lowest in the league.
Did seem a crazy challenge, absolutely charged into him and no attempt at playing the ball. But also felt 0 chance danso gets the ball. So I checked the laws of the game and a "charge" is a direct free kick / pen if it is a) careless, b) reckless or c) uses excessive force. Def c, probably all 3

We need to “invest” in referees
Not too long ago we went the season without being awarded even one. It's fishy AF.
Watching him get mugged in the box because opposing players knew they’d never get penalized for it was infuriating
