I think a good way to do that is to exaggerate things that you already love drawing anatomy-wise. If you like hands, big hands!! Or big eyes!! As you adjust the proportions to accommodate that exaggeration, it should balance itself, i think
for me, i like studying the artsyle of my fav cartoons and then i try to replicate the style of offical works; you can also look at concelt art or even old offical step-by-step tutorials so that eventually you can adapt it into your own style !! srry if this isnt any help though lol..
this has also been my struggle recently but ive been trying to push the cartoony-ness as far as i can when i draw something beyond what my "goal" is, and then go back and like.. reverse engineer it and erase what feels "too cartoony" for what im going for
this might be a waste of time because you spend time erasing and redrawing parts of your drawing? but then you kind of learn what u like and dont like i suppose...?
This is definitely part of my issue as well, and I catch myself doing it way too often LOL, I think it's mostly because I canβt quite get the balance I want between the two.. 3
experiments with Really basic shapes!!!!!!!! sometimes i also get caught up trying to add too much detail when im doing more cartoony art but you really need to hold yourself back when doing it π£ i also like studying the styles of artists who do a lot more cartoony art than i do !!
