Man I couldn't get him to understand me when I was saying "hang on let me get a pen and paper" let alone "hey don't leave I'm getting my phone" and "here's how to use this app, please speak in your first language" haha - the difficulty was for sure two ways n not just me 🤣

I'm assuming southern dialect? They are the hardest to understand imo, but at least the consonants are more varied haha

Honestly i wish i could tell the difference and I wouldn't know where to begin!

In retrospect he may have either been hearing impaired or intoxicated, or just generally difficult to understand, I can't say for sure! I dont think I've ever asked someone to spell their name and STILL not gotten it.

its equally likely its just a thick accent, but I guess the language barrier surprises me a bit, one of the very few things i DID understand is that he's lived here a long time.
