I have known one ethical landlord. A good friend’s parents has an open door policy that they basically are running their property as a way to help college students having a safe place off campus. Feed them, help get services etc. Sweet people.
Community focused housing efforts aren't the same thing as being a landlord. A landlord is specifically someone owning an extra property or properties in order to profit off of. If someone owns an extra property that they allow others to stay at for safety and community, that's not being a landlord.
Oh they still charge rent. It’s somewhere between the two for them. Their family are in two different areas of the world. My friend’s mom is from OK USA and dad from Syria. They are building community and family with their approach to rental relationships.
