Regarding JKR targetting Ace people
I'm ace. I'm also disabled. I grew up being unable to walk, and had surgery when I was 13.
I spent A LOT of time alone on the couch with her books, ignoring acute physical pain
But! I have zero problems giving up that attachment so STOP using it as an excuse

As a result I was bullied and didn't have a lot of friends.
Her books were a refuge, sure, but there are worse pains out there than giving up something we loved in childhood
I couldn't walk afterwards. I was in so much pain I almost went into shock. Rehabilitation took years
I was wheelchair bound for a while, and then on crutches for even longer
And before that there were 5 years of increasing pain as my ability slowly degenerated
They were my friends but they aren't anymore
Cherish the memory of Reading, of learning to read, of enjoying A Story - not The story
Remember you read and loved other things
I haven't touched those books in years. I can't when I know that doing so is associated with pain caused to other people
I can't think of a better argument than this to take the power out of the nostalgia
