I'm on PixelFed (=>activitypub/Mastodon) but the reach is nowhere near BlueSky which is 30x larger and growing faster. I love the philosophy behind Mastodon (no one can buy it) but the intent of BlueSky (move followers+content) and its management convinced me. BlueSky just work and I trust them.

I was on mastodon first. I'm honestly not sure why I'm here, but the engagement has been much better here than mastodon, even with me putting effort into mastodon early on vs not doing so here early on.

Yeah, that’s the tricky part. I prefer the idea of a community owned platform, but if the point is to reach an audience, engagement is gonna be key…

Great. I only have a test account on pixelfed so far (and the official app seems to lack some polish). The Mastodon server I’m on announced it’s shutting down in a few months, so I’m gonna have to decide on a different one before registering a real account on pixelfed

I am also on Mastodon, but I'm not using it a lot, and not so sure about my server policy regarding nudes... but you're right Mastodon should be a better option... and may be https://pixelfed.org/ is also to be considered, but you also need to find a server to host your account (as far as I understood)

Mastodon is a decentralised social media platform run by nerds not billionaires. Everyone can run their own server or sign up on one. Each server can have its own moderation policy and users can migrate between these servers. It should be impossible for some rich bastard to buy the whole thing

It's not (at least not yet) on Mastodon because i didn't heard about many Brazilian content creators or news publishers going to that platform. Bluesky is still the best alternative to replace X/Twitter in terms of "real time" news.
