For me it's the fact it's not generating. Takes the work of others, and poorly composites it into something else. Often relying on theft. It further solidifies the fact there was a failure to create. Just stealing art, and hot-glueing it together. Theft and laziness touted as innovation. Shameful.

Anyone who calls it the future is obviously an idiot. That's the nicest way I can put it. Clearly never made anything in their lives. There is no satisfaction. There is no direct access to your canvas. It's like having a middleman draw something for you, poorly at that. It's just not your creation.

It's a dumb fad that non-hobbyists find cute for a second, ignorant of the unethical motives behind. They either condemn it once they learn, or double down and victimize themselves, putting all their faith in what's clearly a fad of the era. Practical 🤖 will stick around, stolen composites won't.

now, i have used AI for minute things such as removing objects from an image and extending the edges of a frame. the most i've done was use it to create the aisle texture for the "sit down, son" short, but I would never, EVER let a machine take the wheel on MY work.

i write, i make the models, i shoot and edit the footage, i edit and master the audio. whether you like my stuff or not, that's me at the end of the day. that's my work and i'm proud of my work because i have something to be proud of.

i agree, i think what generative AI is going to offer as a technology is a bunch of new artists not learning fundamentals or getting exposure to the productive forms of friction and failure that make the ideas feel cohesive and interesting

the most compelling case I have seen is for things like multiple "shots" of ideas that fit a theme / mind jostling, for lack of creative partners to workshop stuff with -- society needs to solve for that circumstance rather than let machines fill that gap and further social stratification, though

This is one of the reasons ai users are so enigmatic to me, i often wonder what goes on in their head when they give orders to a machine and suddenly consider themselves "artists", how broken does someone have to be in order to find that satisfactory or an accomplishment, you didn't do anything...
