Blunt-flowered Rush fen is a characteristic plant community of wetlands fed by calcium-rich water in N Yorks lowlands. While it's of high conservation value, dominant rush tends to form a dense mat, reducing species diversity. Sheep grazing has little effect but ponies or cattle can be beneficial.
