Agree, love the kid - no hard feelings when he left - it’s a tough step up & he’s struggling to adapt to being a squad player, I’m sure he has some regrets at the moment - but he’ll come good, be it with Ipswich or beyond - class is permanent. Shame about his agent though!

However I don’t begrudge him at all, I hope he kicks on. it was everyone’s interest that he moved on. Mundle and Watson wouldn’t have got a look in.

Was just thinking this. I guess it depends on the pay gap between the two clubs, is he making significantly more? Or does he thinks he done enough to prove that he can make it on another premier league team next year

I here you, but it depends on Jacks definition of succes (greener grass).

He's playing in the PL on a higher wage and often showing that he's a mid level PL player - if any of that is succes to him, then the grass is greener

if succes was playing good football then grass is brown indeed :)

2/ He probably had a point and a bit like the Ross Stewart situation (albeit a blessing in disguise) his move was brought about by “the model”. Jack probably doesn’t have any regrets but I wish he was on those pens during the week!

1/ I heard from a good source when working in Heworth in York in summer where Jack is from and his Dad is still a member of the rugby club in Heworth that he never wanted to leave SAFC and has never been overly money focussed. He felt he was worth more than the wages he was offered based on merit.

That’s not how it looked - I got bored listening to Ian Harte touting him round other clubs every transfer window well before his contract ended. He should have learned from his Spurs move but no, did the same thing again.

Well, he went to a team that would struggle anyway. We all thought he was PL ready, but unfortunately his confidence will be shattered. Hopefully he gets back to his best next season.

Agreed. Financially he is set up for the rest of his life, but where is his career going? Likely be a Championship player again come May, what PL team will pick him up? What Championship club would pay his wages?

I love Clarkey, but this has been a terrible move for him.

I know what you mean, but I'm not sure Clarkey was ever that type of player. Think he simply wanted the step up, but has been advised badly with the club of choice.

Maybe should have had another year with us to see if any better opportunities had presented themselves, I agree Ipswich was a risk for him and it doesn’t look like it’s going to work out.
