There are lots of great examples out there, often coordinated with other actions. Boycotts work best when part of a strategy moving on multiple fronts: https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/workers-united-the-delano-grape-strike-and-boycott.htm

They can be a great way for people far from the frontlines of an action (like a strike, or the fight against apartheid in South Africa) to show solidarity. But I don't know of a boycott that has succeeded without some other kind of work alongside it.

I was just saying this! Also they act as social gatekeepers- I’ve had Christian friends who kept their trip to Disney a secret and also a gay friend who was afraid to tell people he worked at Chick Fil A, etc. I’m not convinced they have an impact economically or otherwise.

I built a whole capitalist company with the goal of shifting funds from white people to Black Women. We were able to shift $250K directly to Black Women in 18 months.

I knew then that Black Capitalists were full of ish. Cuz it really wasn't hard to do... if you weren't a greedy Capitalist. 🤷🏽‍♀️
