People in public service should be stewards of the collective good, not looking to get over on through exploitation or, worse yet, taking perverse pleasure in its destruction. But they do, and it’s not only ideological, but pathological.

We can’t even all agree that all people have a right to remain alive, or to exist at all, never mind live and flourish. I don’t really really know if there’s a way to bridge a gap that wise, or if or how that should be a goal.
