Have you ever had one of the out of pocket plans? My last one was like $550 a month, it had a $6K deductible, and I still had a $2K ambulance bill out of pocket that year. I spent about $10K that year and I had to put stuff off to keep it that low.
The word “Affordable” is in that damn bill’s name.
Not to mention they failed to require that doctors accept the plans! Only the gold & platinum ones had out of network coverage at all. They suck so fucking bad. I really liked the consulting lifestyle, but it was not sustainable under the US healthcare regime.
Compared to what existed beforehand, nearly every element of the ACA polled quite well individually, yet a lot of people had negative views of the full package.
That sounds an awful lot like what the question was posing.
I suppose that was true at the time it was being written & debated, but are we really talking about 14 year stale opinions? Today the thing we wound up with in no way feels like a good program that makes you want the people who wrote it to write future bills.
