When I was in New Orleans for JazzFest a long time ago there was a flyer for a plantation tour. I didn't have time for it, but I thought it might have been an educational experience. If I'd gone, it wouldn't have been to condone slavery. In the same spirit I visited Bergen Belsen and that's not fun.

I went to Oak Alley back in the 90s. It was educational, if you were interested in hearing about how the Southern aristocracy lived. The enslaved people got all of 2 mentions- that they did much of the work building the house, and where their living quarters used to be.
