This is a generational fight. If you think this is going to be fixed after a Blue Wave in 2026, you’re not being realistic. I’m begging you to put down the AI slop memes and be realistic.

I’ve been thinking about this. People seemed to think Biden could fix everything TFG broke in four years. That was never realistic. And it won’t be next time, either.
Yeah. Despite what the overwhelming narrative is saying, he actually did a ton of really good stuff. He did some stuff I didn't like because I'm pretty far left. I guess I just managed my expectations appropriately?
There will always be trade offs. But one thing is for sure. It’s far easier to destroy than to build. And when things are destroyed/eliminated, the vulnerable suffer the most. They are the first collateral. People who are purist in their ideology will soon find that out.
This fight began 60-70 years ago, when the GOP began working to control most states & then the courts. Many of us saw what was happening & urged Dem leadership to fight back. They chose to focus on D.C. instead. Dems must once again contest every position from dog catcher on up - forever!
the Dem party spent the last two years telling gen Z to fuck off so I have a hard time seeing this party getting fixed before those of us not in the bubble die of flood fire or asphyxiation
Exactly! The fight has been going on for a long time and will continue long after my last breath. There is no final victory, only the privilege to fight for our values while we occupy this world.
I had wished that I might be free in my lifetime, but if not I will still fight for the freedom of those who come after me. This might be my only legacy.
It is so frustrating that so many people think winning one election or passing one law is the end of the fight.
The GOP literally NEVER gives up trying to make the world more terrible, people need to recognize that fact and keep fighting and keep voting and keep paying attention.
An election win is a win. Passing a decent law is a win. Most of these will never be big and exciting. Deciding to ignore small wins and then disengaging is why the GOP is always able to regain power and roll everything back.
The point is ONE thing is NOT gong to fix everything.
Keep helping.
the election win that led to the largest funding of Israel in history? democrats have consistently and totally failed the citizens of America. they have happily handed the country over to fascists, on purpose.
It doesn't matter how often we tell them that this is the work of a lifetime, they immediately start complaining about having to keep coming back to reinforce democracy. I don't understand how to fix a deliberate mindset like that.
That'll never happen because nobody wants to do the work. Everybody wants to drop their ballot and be done with it. The act of democracy inconveniences them somehow.
You're right a 2026 blue wave won't fix it. We'll need another, and another, and another, and yet more.
I don't see how dumping on cringe resistance wine moms is helpful. What fixed this, I don't know, but I do know the 2026 election will be hugely consequential.
So if you are typing completely idiotic bullshit that is identical to that which would be typed by a Trump-aligned vote suppression op, maybe consider not.
If your conception on how to fight fascism even includes the fucking midterms your way off base. The Ross is fundamental and it will not be dislodged by institutional means
This is where Democrats have failed. Republicans have been involved in a decades long fight to reshape this country. Democrats focus on the election at hand and then chill.
Maybe you focus on the election at hand, and get grifter.
The Dem party has an actual Dem platform that has been remarkably consistent.
Every single American with health care other than thru large employers can thank the Dems. That is a century-long fight we are still fighting.
Yes but they never brag about it. They go quiet. They need to remember it’s politics and unless you’re constantly telling people what you did for them they forget. They’ve let Republicans drive the narrative for decades.
Yup. The Dems have absolute dogshit optics. They did plenty of good things in the last 4 years, but they don't champion and shout about them like the Repubs do.
Agree. I’m one who will not see the outcome (ain’t going to live to be 100 I hope) but I’ll fight when and where I can to remind we can always be better.
Thank you! I am so sick of people saying "in 2 years, in 4 years". We must realistically look at the damage he did in the first term with guard rails... having no guard rails this time will only accelerate and deepen the damage. It will be harder to root out without burning it all down.
People can say what they like, but you gotta give it to them, the GOP has always played the long con. Of course, it makes it easier knowing poor white people will go along with anything as long as someone white is in charge. At least it means, by association, they are still better than Other.
Also, it's truly a *fight* and not a debate. No points awarded by impartial judges for making good points, having better evidence, or crafting the best rhetoric. Trumpistan is playing for keeps, and they will use every weapon in their arsenal to cement and hold power.
General Strike Now! The only way to force change is to hit their walets in both our collective purchacing power, AND our productivity. Without either, they will cave.
Who is going to organize a general strike in the USA? People couldn’t even stay off Facebook for a day. (You’re right it’s the only way to change anything—deprive them of our labor/money/attention ) but logistically and psychologically a general strike=impossible to organize here.)
Yep.The only groups with the infrastructure to make a
General strike happen are the DNC🤣 and the Unions. The unions have a problem bc much of their membership are MAGA.So I understand your frustration. But In today’s landscape, when you call for something, YOU have to make it happen.Good luck brother.
I'm not convinced the Democrats win in 2026 (or in 2028!) even if there are credible elections. They are a lost bundle of technocrats with no credibility, no message, and a shrinking base that is at best ambivalent about them.
Without labor and the poor, the Democrats are a dead letter.
Even if the 2026 Blue Wave does in fact happen, we’ll still have to contend with normie voters in 2028 who are irrationally annoyed that the newly elected Dems “aren’t fixing things fast enough.”
I’m sure you’ll do everything in your power to increase the % of people supporting Dems. Right? Or will you spend your time reinforcing why people shouldn’t support them (which helps Trump and the fascists)? Your choice.
This whole idea of “keeping primaries civil to not harm the nominee in the general” is the dumbest shit ever. If you can’t win a primary without being protected from friendly fire, what chance do you have against enemy fire?
American politics can turn fast, but the problem is that Trump now controls all facets of government and won't be caring for congress no matter who sits in it.
Our elections are gonna be even more meaningless. And that's without mentioning GOP cooption of the democratic party.
🧵🪡Fuck that “Comply in Advance” lecture. The people bending the knee are doing so because this is what they wanted all along and the environment is such they can now be public about it.Nobody else is complying in advance and the poster you are referring to is pointing out an actual situation.
That exists and needs to be talked about. Rug sweeping doesn’t change reality which has nothing to do with “complying in advance.” I hear fingernails on a blackboard every time I hear that phrase now. It’s become meaningless.
I think this last election proved that, it never ends. The fight never ends. People forget why they fought in the past, then they usher in the evil again, and the battle starts anew. And by people, I mean white people, this is entirely on me and mine...
i think currently (and for USA) it's white people but the whole thing is just a really big cycle that repeats forever and always in most places. And that's both heartening and depressing.
I won't see the end of this in my lifetime. I will worry endlessly about my daughters yet be so grateful they decided not to have children.
Dig in, be vigilant, and use every circumstance you can.
From today forward the decisions, policies enacted, and consequences belong to the *entire* Republican Party. They created this administration - make them all own it. Let’s make it trend #ownitGOP
I know a lot of Democrats and Independents that voted for Trump this time and Republicans that didn't vote at all or voted Kamala. It's bigger than the GOP. Everyone needs to find common ground and stand up to the lifelong politicians that have let this happen.
Fair point - but the GOP has to take ownership of this administration and everything that follows. They had the power, and the leadership, to stop it and chose to let it happen.
From this day on, you're absolutely right. They better make our lives better and they better figure out how to fix Social Security and Medicare so there is money in 10 years. I'd like to retire before I die, if I live that long. The whole MAHA movement gives me some hope about the food we eat too.
Do you really think a Republican govt is going to cut the gravy train for big ag? Come on a third of red states rely on the farm subsidies that make all the bad food
My husband and I started researching this extensively last year. There is nowhere to go. Every Western Democracy is headed down this road.Xi was right when he told Biden”democracy v dictatorship is the war of the 21st century and dictatorship is winning. Might as well stay here and do what we can.

It’s much faster to break things than rebuild.
Americans are really fucking stupid.
This fight will continue until the literal end of the world
There is the force and the counterforce and there always will be
wtf are these people on?

We need to keep working and supporting no matter what.

Our job is to keep shit together long enough to get to the other side.
And it sucks to think we might not see the fruits of our labors, but we do it for our future generations

Do not comply in advance.
And esp do not demand others surrender in advance.
Take a class.

WE NEED AN OPPOSITION PARTY
Instead of trying to find some clear movement, a direction and some candidates, they seem to be focusing on some bad hair and the way someone stands.
